“O Give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.”
-Psalm 107:1
Keeping the home fire burning brightly, warming and soothing souls.
“Home” Hopefully that is a comforting word for you. It is for me. It brings to mind bright windows, on a starry night and smoke rising from the chimney; good company and wood fires crackling warm, warding off the chilling wind that howls outside. The best company in the world. That of those who love you most.
“The Lord has done great things for us; whereof we are glad.”
-Psalm 126:3
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”
-Titus 3:5
“Keeping the Home” As a woman, I believe it is my duty and privilege to keep the home. This goes so far beyond cooking and cleaning. This is a calling, to raise the next generation! Proverbs 14:1 says, “Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.”
“Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchmen waketh but in vain.
It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
Lo, children are an heritage from the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.”
-Psalm 127
“Fire” Fire can heat and comfort, or it can destroy. The tongue is no different. Both must be carefully controlled. I pray that the words found here may be a blessing to all who find them; that souls may be warmed, not destroyed.
“A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit”
-Proverbs 15:8
